Thanksgiving

Can you guess what I'm most thankful for this year?

That was an easy one, huh?

This time last year Gary packed a 22 pound frozen turkey (in a thermal bag with three freezer packs) into a large suitcase to bring a bit of home to those of us fostering in Antigua. As the smells of our traditional U.S. Thanksgiving meal filled our traditional Antigua casa, we wondered aloud what next year might bring.

So much was still up in the air.

Could we have imagined then how perfect and how ordinary this Thanksgiving would be?

Surely not.

How could we have foreseen Eliana, still in her pajamas, helping Dadda make the pumpkin pie with holiday music being drown out by her giggles of glee?

Or Grandma and Grandpa's delight when Eliana mastered her new wooden puzzle in five minutes flat?

Or the simple joy of taking an after dinner stroll with Tia Angela and Teo Jeff past the Christmas lights at the nearby outdoor square?

Or this smile?

We have much to be thankful for.

I hope your Thanksgiving was full of joy and love and family.
