Today's post is a hodge-podge of thoughts running through my mind these days.

I've spent most of my free time these last few weeks working on the Helping Mayan Families service trip. The response has been AMAZING - far beyond our hopes!

Here's the inside scoop of activity so far:

  • over 60 adoptive families are sending envelopes for us to deliver to their Foster Mothers in the Guatemala City area;
  • over $1,500 in cash donations have been sent to our paypal account;
  • we know of several generous cash donations sent from our website to the Mayan Families paypal account, but we're waiting to get an official tally;
  • over $4,500 in cash and supplies has been raised by/for the veterinary clinic;
  • over $37,000 worth of supplies have been raised by/for the medical clinic! That figure includes a large donation by MAP International that we're officially announcing later this week once the boxes have been shipped.

And we still have 3.5 weeks left to go!

Three and a half weeks??

YIKES!

I am nowhere near prepared to kiss BabyGirl and Gary goodbye for a whole week. I don't think it will hit me until I board the plane. I wasn't planning on bringing my computer, but I think I will NEED to have a nightly fix of BabyGirl and Dadda via Skype video.

Speaking of BabyGirl -- the words are FINALLY coming -- YAY!

Whenever we're in the car together Eliana and I do a call and return of the alphabet, numbers, colors, or some such. She usually gets bored and stops after 5-10 items. But last week she repeated every single letter of the alphabet, one at a time after my prompt, all the way to Z! Okay, not every letter was completely recognizable, but she did make twenty-seven whole-hearted attempts in a row.

Yay, BabyGirl!

Of course the new verbal focus hasn't slowed down the climbing one little bit. Lately when Eliana wants her diaper changed, she runs into her room CLIMBS up onto her changing station and starts yelling "MOMMA" from atop her perch. Thankfully Gary has anchored all her furniture to the wall.

Let's see, what else is going on?

My Mom is back home and feeling much better now. Thank you for all the kind emails, thoughts and prayers. It means a lot when someone takes the time to ask how a person they've never met is feeling. :-)

Gary and I spent all last weekend posting unneeded items on Craigslist. Do you all use that? I LOVE it! It's like having a garage sale online. We've made a bit of cash and more importantly we've gotten rid of a bunch of junk cluttering up our guest room. (Yes Angela, one day you will be able to stay overnight without having to clear a path to the bed first!)

The only other thing going on here is that I'm fighting an icky cold. Good thing I don't need my voice to respond to emails. What DID people do before online communication?

Oh that reminds me, I was labeled a "website snob" the other day by a friend.

I had to agree.

Besides, I've been called worse.

:-)

That's enough rambling for one day, don't you think?
